What We Do
Craft Calc Lab is a free collection of online calculators built for crafters, makers, and artisans. Each tool is designed around real scientific formulas and industry-standard references — not guesswork or simplified approximations.
Whether you're formulating cold process soap, calculating book spine width for a binding project, dialing in your homebrew ABV, or generating precision box templates for laser cutting, our tools give you the numbers you need with full transparency into the math behind them.
Why We Built This
Crafting communities deserve better tools. Too many existing calculators online are outdated, ad-heavy, or built on simplified formulas that don't reflect real-world material behavior. We wanted to create something different: fast, accurate, mobile-friendly tools that respect your time and intelligence.
Who's Behind This
Craft Calc Lab is maintained by a small team of practicing crafters — soap makers, woodworkers, brewers, and ceramicists — who got frustrated with existing online calculators that were either outdated, ad-cluttered, or built on formulas nobody would source. We build the tools we wished existed when we started our own projects.
Each calculator is reviewed by the team member with the most direct experience of the craft involved. Soap chemistry is reviewed by a soaper, wood physics by a woodworker, food-safety math by someone who has actually had to hit a nitrite target. Our Approach
- Scientific accuracy:Every formula is sourced from published references, industry standards, or peer-reviewed research. Sources are cited within each tool's documentation.
- Transparency: We show our work. Each calculator explains the formulas used so you can verify the math independently.
- Privacy-first: No user accounts, no tracking beyond basic analytics, no selling your data. Your calculations stay in your browser.
- Free and accessible: All tools are free to use. We sustain the site through non-intrusive advertising.
Tech Stack
Craft Calc Lab is built with Next.js and deployed as a static site. All calculations run client-side in your browser — nothing is sent to a server. This means the tools work offline once loaded and your data never leaves your device.
